Casual Doesn't Mean Boring:

A Riverfront Maternity Session at Rotary Park Suntree

Not every mama-to-be wants an underwater session or a glamorous flowing gown floating in the surf. And that's exactly as it should be. I carry a variety of gown styles precisely so we can find your style — but sometimes the right fit isn't a gown at all. Sometimes it's a favorite dress or outfit, golden light, and someone you love standing next to you. This session at Rotary Park at Suntree is exactly that kind of beautiful.

Water, Without the Beach

If the beach isn't really your thing but you still want that soft, reflective water backdrop — the Indian River is a great alternative. You're on the water without being at the beach, and the surrounding plant life at this spot in Suntree gives us so much more to play with than sand and shoreline ever could. We can frame you through branches, tuck you behind tall grass, use the natural layers of green to add depth and interest you just don't get anywhere else. Every session here ends up looking a little different, because the park itself keeps giving us new textures to work with.

And if even a park setting doesn't feel like "you" — we can bring the session home. Literally. I've photographed sunrise maternity sessions right in a client's own backyard as well as in the nursery, like this riverfront session at home in Melbourne. Wherever you feel most like yourself is where these photos should happen.

What They Wore

Since this session landed in November, mom chose two long-sleeve looks — a relaxed teal maternity dress for movement and easy laughter, and a long-sleeve, open-front chiffon white gown for something a little softer as the light dropped low. Dad wore a simple grey button-down that paired easily with both.

If a casual dress still doesn't feel like your style, that's more than welcome too — plenty of clients wear something entirely their own. Whatever you choose, I help with outfit planning ahead of time so nobody's guessing the morning of.

"But I Won't Know What to Do" — Every Dad, Ever

I hear this from almost every partner before a session: I don't know how to pose. I'll just be standing there awkwardly.

Here's the truth — you don't have to know. That's my job.

I guide every single pose, tell you where to put your hands, how to hold her, when to look at each other and when to look at the camera. And then I get you moving — walking together, swaying, laughing at something silly I said just to catch that unscripted moment in between.

So if you're the nervous partner, here's my advice: just love on your person. Hold her close. Make her laugh. Forget the camera's even there. I'll handle the rest.
