You're excited and maybe a little anxious. You're about to welcome a new life into the world. You are probably also tired, achy, and not feeling so glamorous. You may be planning to capture your newborn baby shortly after birth but haven't thought about capturing the special time before baby arrives. (Or you've thought about it and are not feeling up to being in front of a camera.)

But the photographs captured while you're still pregnant are more for your unborn child than they are for you. A gift to the generation you are creating. My son loves to go through the Belly Book I made while I was pregnant and seeing the maternity photos we did that hang on the wall. He talks about how he was growing inside my belly. He can see that love and anticipation for him before he was even born.

It's truly a beautiful and miraculous process of growing another human being inside your belly. And with the right elements, you can feel beautiful too. I recently made several maternity gowns to offer for my clients to use for their session. After finishing each one, I would try it on (and stuff my belly) to make sure my vision for it had panned out. And each time, my son would say, "You look like a princess!" And it hit me, that this is exactly what I want my clients to feel. As we celebrate a new life about to be brought into the world, I want my clients to be able to forget about the extra weight, tiredness, and aches, and really feel beautiful, like a princess, while I capture this special time. Maternity sessions can take place as early as 30 weeks and are best before you are feeling too uncomfortable and swollen.

If you're considering a maternity session, check out my Maternity Guide for more information and contact me to discuss your custom maternity session.

I agree with Connor - I don't have professional photos of my mom pregnant with me but I really treasure the photos I do have. I like knowing my parents were excited about me and treasured that time. I think your gowns and creations are beautiful too, anyone would enjoy playing dress up in them!
