​It's the middle of my busiest time of year, but I'm trying hard to make sure I keep up with my personal project. It's so easy to let this one slide when there are so many other things to do, client images to edit and albums to design. So here are the final days of summer. 

Week 33 - Pizza at the Beach

On my birthday back in April, we started a new summer tradition... pizza at the beach. During the summer, my favorite time to go to the beach is in the evening when it isn't as hot and usually not as crowded. Plus there's usually a beautiful sunset, and I'm a sucker for a good sunset. Before summer was over, I knew I had to capture this new tradition as part of my project 52.

Week 34 - Wave Jumper

We love the beach, bet you can't tell, haha! My son loves running and jumping in the waves. I love capturing the joy on his face doing something he loves.

Week 35 - Planets in the Sky

Venus and Jupiter lined up in the western sky this summer, and we missed it due to a cloudy sky the evening it happened. My son loves planets and outer space so we still wanted to see them, even if they weren't lined up anymore. So the next evening, we went down to the park downtown where we knew we'd have a clear view of the horizon and captured the planets in the sky.

Week 36 - Milky Way

I've been wanting to try more astrophotography and take a picture of the stars in the sky. My son asked if we could go outside and look at the stars before we went to bed one night so once it was dark enough, we went out. We were using a star app on my phone to look for different constellations as well as trying to see if we could spot the Milky Way. It was hard to find, so I thought it would be the perfect time to pull out my camera to help us find it, since a long exposure can reveal more than our naked eyes can see at night. We found it! It's not the best picture of it, but for my first shot like this, I was happy with it. I'm hoping to play with these some more. I'd love to get a shot like this with my son in it, though I'm not sure he could stay still that long!

Week 37 - Waves Crashing

Back at the beach again! This time, my son was letting the waves crash over his head as he gets better at holding his breath. He normally doesn't like to go under water so it was fun watching him do this.

Week 38 - Peaceful Slumber

I don't think I'll ever get tired of watching my son sleep. He still needs me to lay with him while he falls asleep and I know it won't last forever so I'll soak it up while I can. It's been almost a year since the last time I took a picture of him sleeping and when I saw him like this after falling asleep while reading a book (because I was taking a shower), it was too perfect to pass up. He's going to be five in just a few months and I swear time seems to go faster and faster the older he gets.
