As a photographer, even before starting my business or becoming a mom, I'm always the one behind the camera. Usually the way I would get into a picture was to take an "usie" or hand my camera to someone else to take a picture for me. Now that I'm a mom, it's sometimes harder to get in the picture, but so much more important. One day my son is going to look back at the photographs on the walls and in albums and I want him to see more than just pictures of himself and pictures of him with his daddy, I want to be in them too. I want him to know that I was there too, even if much of the time it was behind the camera. I want him to see and remember how much fun we had together. 

So when a fellow photographer and mom of five needed family pictures, I was thrilled to make it happen! I met Mrs. J last year at our local Live Love Latch event. We instantly connected and became friends. We were finally able to get a time when everyone could be together and the weather (just barely) cooperated. The rain literally stopped just before their session! This family is so much fun and you can get a glimpse of there personalities in my favorites from the session...

G Family | Saint Marys Waterfront ParkCopyright Kimberly Tank Art & Photography Miss A was the brave one who volunteered to go first when no one was in the mood to have their picture taken. That changed once they saw how much fun she had. She loved being by the water with the wind in her hair.

G Family | Saint Marys Waterfront ParkCopyright Kimberly Tank Art & Photography Miss E is going to be on Broadway one day. She has already performed in a high school musical as the only speaking/singing child part and we had fun acting out different emotions, which of course led to her laughing!

G Family | Saint Marys Waterfront ParkCopyright Kimberly Tank Art & Photography Sweet Mr. S loved sitting not the swing in front of the water. He's all boy but those sisters of his are going to make sure he knows how to treat a lady when he grows up. 

G Family | Saint Marys Waterfront ParkCopyright Kimberly Tank Art & Photography Miss L, the baby of the family, was the typical almost 2 year old who made me really work to get a good smile. She of course just wanted to run everywhere so it took a little creativity but we got it!

Our last attempt was to get one with just the kids. They of course were hungry, itchy, and so over pictures by then. I love each of their personalities coming out in this picture!
