Project 52 | Done is Better than Perfect

December 07, 2015  •  2 Comments

I recently read something saying that "done is better than perfect." And it really seemed to apply to this project. I am giving up on perfection and trying to find the absolute best, most amazing idea/shot for the remaining themes. My goal at this point is to finish. I've really started to let go of this a while ago but I'm really committed to finish and so far I'm on track! I actually just started pulling out my camera more and documenting our life and then trying to figure out where I could fit the images into the themes. I have 5 themes left and that's totally doable in this last month. So without further ado, here are six more images I took for this project.

Week 36 | Soft

This was actually taken over Thanksgiving when my family and I rented a house by the beach. My son loves to jump on beds but we have Tempur Pedic matresses in our house so he takes advantage when we go somewhere else (what kid wouldn't?). I initially wanted to take pictures of him jumping on the bed but it turned into a pillow fight instead. I love their expressions in the image and figured it would go nicely with the soft theme. Pillows are soft...

Week 44 Parallel Lines

My son and I went to scout a new location I thought I could use for sessions. I'm familiar  with the location as I used to train my search dog there but that was always in the morning and I was never paying attention to the light. The light was perfect and the texture overgrown weeds and other plants was great. There was this great gate there that I knew would be perfect to use for this theme. I love the little smirk on my son's face here. It wasn't the most technically perfect of the shots I took but it's still my favorite.

Week 45 | Underneath

This was one of those "just get it done" themes so I encouraged my son to crawl under this table and snapped a few photos. I loved the line of his body in this one.

Week 46 | Wide Angle

My son loves our dogs. We received some bad news before Thanksgiving that our Zoe (on the right) had a large mass in her belly. I knew I needed to get more pictures of her with my son. He wanted to have me take another picture of him reading with her like I did earlier in this project, which I did, but this one was more fun and fit this theme (plus I didn't want a repeat shot of him reading to her for this project). It's a little reminiscent of the king of the wild things too. Zoe is his favorite and has been such a wonderful dog (perfect if not for her health issues). We have been lucky to have her these 9 years and will miss her terribly.

Week 48 | Macro

I took this picture back in October when we carved our Halloween pumpkin. I don't have a macro lens, so although this is technically not a true macro, it's as close as I can get it with my current gear.

Week 50 | Outside Looking In

This theme didn't come to me until I was going through images for our Christmas card. I wanted to do something with my son and the tree and this is his favorite spot at Christmas time. He loves to look up at all the lights! Then it occurred to me that he is "outside looking in" and fit this theme. And no, this isn't the image for our Christmas card ;).

Thanks for following along with my project! Which image from this post was your favorite and why? I'd love to know!

I love these!
I really love the one with the parallel lines, that's a winner!
I think it's a good approach to just get it done, I think I need to get in on that and finalise my project. Hmmm.. I wonder if I can do it!
