Award Winning Family Photographer | From Maternity & Babies to Seniors & Underwater Space Coast - Brevard County FL Lifestyle Family Photos | Award Winning Family Photographer | St Marys GA - Yulee FLThis little "wild one" recently celebrated his first birthday and we incorporated his birthday theme into his first birthday pictures by doing them in the woods! Mom and Dad has a few fun props to add to this little man's birthday theme and I'm always happy to include them. He was all about the leaves and couldn't understand why he wasn't allowed to eat them. He's too cute for words and had some of the best smiles for me that evening! I loved capturing the sweet moments in between the smiles too. I've known Mom and Dad since right around the time they got married and I was honored to capture their sweet little family celebrating Mr. L turning one!
Those leaves are just so interesting...
Those eyes and that smile! He's too cute for words.
Checking out some more interesting leaves with his mom.
This is a fun shot I love to capture for little ones who like to "fly".
That look he's giving Daddy is just precious.
Such a great look of determination to walk here and he took his first steps not long after his birthday! One of my favorites... giving Mom Eskimo kisses.
Thank you H Family for allowing me to capture this time in your lives. I hope you are enjoying your coffee table book and I can't wait to see what you do with your images for the wall! <3 Kim Owner/Photographer-Artist Kimberly Tank Art & Photography Looking to capture your family as they are right now? Baby's First Year Milestone Session | Fernandina Beach FL Baby PhotographyFor this little one's 9 month milestone session, we braved the beach. Which means sand, lots of sand, was everywhere! Haha! Miss K tried eating it of course and it didn't take long for her to be pretty much covered in it. We did an outfit change, which also was covered in sand immediately. Then we ditched the clothes and headed for the water and she was in her element. Not surprisingly, that's when the smiles came out! I made sure to get big brother and mom in a few too. Here are a few of my favorites.
Hmmm... sand doesn't taste so good...
Hmmm.... wet sand is slightly better I think...
Having a chat with big brother.
Ah, much better...
Love the giggles and expression here! These two are going to get into all kinds of trouble together!
Watching the water move around her, so peaceful.
Miss K and her beautiful momma...
Beach hair, don't care!
I can't believe it's almost time to capture Miss K's 1 year milestone session. This year has gone by so quickly! I'm so honored to have captured this first year for the N family. <3 Kim Owner/Artist-Photographer Kimberly Tank Art & Photography I only take on a limited number of Baby Plan Memberships for each calendar year to ensure the highest quality of service to all of my clients and priority booking for plan members. Underwater Child Photography | Award Winning Child Photographer | Kingsland - St Marys GAI have been photographing this sweet child since she was a baby and it's hard to believe she's eight! We always do something fun for her birthday photos and incorporate her birthday party/trip theme that she's chosen. This year, she wanted to go to SeaWorld. When Mom told me this and said she wasn't sure what we could do with that, I suggested we do an underwater session, which of course was perfect! Mom found a pool we could use and I was able to capture some fun images of Miss C swimming, jumping, and splashing in the water, her own "sea world". While this is likely my last pool session of the year, I'm looking forward to more next summer! Plus there's always the beach. I know my son will splash in the waves any time of the year!
I can't wait to see what we come up with next year for Miss C! <3 Kim Owner/Photographer-Artist Kimberly Tank Art & Photography Want some fun photos of your children and family? Amelia Island Beach Vacation Photography | Family Photographer Fernandina Beach, FLA visit to Amelia Island is the perfect time to get updated family photos. Ms. P thought so too so she surprised her son and his family with a fun family session on the beach while they came to visit this summer. I even convinced her to get in some of the photos too. I love including grandparents in photos! The girls had a blast exploring and playing at the beach and I loved capturing all the fun they all had together as a family. These fun moments will be treasured by them for years to come and they have beautiful artwork to hang in their home. It was quite windy at the beach that day, but that didn't stop anyone from having a blast, as you can see from some of my favorites below.
Because of the wind we had at the beach that day, I scheduled to meet them again while they were still in town to try a few away from the beach where hair wouldn't be flying everywhere, just to be sure they had something they really loved to hang on their walls. Of course that day it decided to rain! It didn't stop us though, this awesome family just rolled with it and we ended up dancing in the rain for a few more family shots. They ended up loving the beach photos despite the windy hair, but had to get a rainy day print as well because it was so fun! These three were my favorite.
Here are a few words from Mom on their experience: "Kim is wonderful!

Lifestyle Family Photography | St Marys Family & Child PhotographerThis summer, I took a trip up North with my family to visit family and friends in our hometowns. Our trip took us to the Cleveland, OH area and Chicago, IL area, with a stop in Nashville, TN on the way home. While in Cleveland, I was honored to photograph a good friend of mine (and college roommate) with her two beautiful little girls. I love celebrating motherhood and capturing images of moms and their children, and getting to do this for my beautiful, sweet friend made it even more special. The Cleveland area has an abundance of beautiful outdoor spaces throughout the Cleveland Metroparks and we settled on this spot along the Rocky River. We explored the riverbank, walked a few trails, and stopped to check out the flowers blooming. With little ones, it's usually best to keep them moving! Here are a few favorites from the session...

Tips for Fun First Day of School Photos | Rockledge - Cocoa Beach Photographer
Tips for Fun First Day of School PhotosIt's back to school time! Whether you are starting school this week, or not starting quite yet, this post should help you if you want to take great first day of school pictures of your kiddo(s). You don't need a fancy camera either, in fact, all but one of the photos in this post were taken with my iPhone. And now for my five top tips for taking fun photos of your kids to document the first day of school!
1 - Consider taking them the night before the first day.Mornings can be hard enough trying to get everyone ready to go and out the door on time and then add in taking a photo of everyone and you've just upped your amount of morning chaos. Depending on school start times and how well you've prepped your kids or getting up at that time, you may have a child who just isn't ready to have a camera/phone in their face earlier than they're used to being up and out the door. Even if you have an early riser or you've prepped by waking up early the previous two weeks, your child still may be too excited or nervous about the first day to cooperate very well for a photo. And bonus, if you're house faces east, your front door probably has better lighting in the afternoon/evening than first thing in the morning. So get them in their first day of school outfit the night before, practice however they are going to wear their hair, and get that photo without adding too much more to your morning routine. Of course, if you're homeschooling, you have more leeway as far as when to take your photos or even what you consider the first day of your school year.
2 - Sign Options. When the first day of school photos first became a trend, it seemed it was good enough to just write out or print out a piece of paper that said "First Day of # Grade" on it. Now, you can buy templates and have them printed for your child to hold on their first day to show various interests in addition to what grade they're starting (you can find free ones too by googling). A good old chalk board, like the one I used, or a white board, are perfectly acceptable in my book. No need to go all out if that's not your thing.
3 - Light/Location.Consider the light when choosing your location. Outside will typically give you the best lighting, assuming you're not having to do them before the sun comes up (another reason to do them the night before!). The most common location I've seen is usually in front of the front door or in the front yard. Don't feel like you need to use either of those locations if the light happens to be better in your backyard.
4 - Forget the "smile" and "say cheese".If you want a genuine smile, don't use those words! (In fact, those words are pretty much banned at my sessions, haha!) Try asking them what they are most excited about for school or get them talking about something they enjoy. You can also tell them silly jokes or act like a goofball, whatever you know will make them giggle! If you're child isn't a big smiler, be content with just having them look at you and don't worry so much about them smiling.
5 - Let them have fun! There's nothing that kills a mood more than getting yelled at for not smiling for the camera. Let them be silly and have fun. This is another bonus for doing the photos the night before as you won't be rushed to hurry up and get the photo. Keep snapping those photos while they're being silly and you're bound to end up with a good one. They've had more than their fair share of challenges and you'd almost never know when first meeting them. Mom has been battling cancer and the youngest was recently diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. They've never had family portraits done and I was honored to remedy that for them! It turned out to be a celebratory session as Mom is now in remission! I pray that this is a permanent remission and these photographs will remind them all of the love and strength that brought them through this difficult time in life. I couldn't pick a favorite from this session as I loved so many of the photos. I loved capturing each individual as well as the connections and love they share with each other. Sometimes it takes older kids a little longer to get comfortable in front of the camera, so I started with individuals to help them loosen up. My son has recently become obsessed with knock-knock jokes and since they were fresh in my mind, I used the silliness of the corny jokes to help break the ice. After individuals portraits, we got a photo of Mom and Dad before getting the whole crew together. Then I made sure each kid had a photo with mom before we headed to the playground for some fun, playful captures. Even older kids can have fun on a playground!
