Award Winning Family Photographer | From Maternity & Babies to Seniors & Underwater Space Coast - Brevard County FL Nursing Momma | Jacksonville Baby PhotographerI had the honor of meeting and photographing a local photographer in Jacksonville, FL who specializes in birth and motherhood photography. (Check her out at Lazy M Photography). This also happened to be my first session of 2015! What a wonderful way to start the year and celebrate the beautiful breastfeeding relationship of this new nursing pair. I think the momma's view images are my favorite, those are what we breastfeeding mommas see when nursing our babies and I love preserving those memories!
I think this last one is my favorite and was begging to be black and white. I usually love color but am loving playing with black and white a little more these days when the image calls for it! <3 Kim Owner/Photographer-Artist Kimberly Tank Art & Photography Like what you see? Project 52 | Images of Inspiration | Weeks 1-4I've quickly discovered, after starting my business, the importance in making sure I to continue to shoot and create for myself. For one, I don't want to have less pictures of my own son because I'm so busy taking pictures of everyone else's children. Personal projects are also sometimes the best way to grow as an artist, try new things, and really work at honing and fine-tuning my skills. So when a group of my fellow photographers from NAPCP were forming a group to do a Project 52, I immediately joined! I'm excited to add a personal project for myself this year and happy to have other professionals to help cheer each other on and keep motivating each other to complete the project. Themes were chosen for each week, and it's fun to see how each photographer interprets and executes the theme each week. I'm hoping to blog these monthly to share with you all! So here are the first 4 images of the year.
Week 1 | Gratitude
There is so much about this image that I am so so grateful for. My son, who just turned 3, is my world. He is sweet, smart, funny, the best snuggler, and a challenge, but worth every second. We tried for 2 years to get pregnant, with a miscarriage around the 1 year mark, and then lost his twin around 7.5 weeks. I am forever thankful to have the honor of loving and raising him. And then of course I'm grateful for the fact that he is napping so I can get something done!
Week 2 | Bokeh
For the non-photographers reading this, bokeh is the soft, out of focus blurring of the background (created when using a fast lens at a low aperture which creates a shallow depth of field). We went to Disney World to celebrate my son's 3rd birthday so I thought it would be fun to try some nighttime photography and get the lights of Main Street at the Magic Kingdom to be the bokeh for this image.
Week 3 | Music
Week 4 | Cake

It was a beautiful evening with lots of fall leaves on the ground for Charlotte to play with! She's growing so fast, before we know it, it'll be time for her 9 month session! This one may be trying to walk by then too. She's adorable as always and seems to enjoy being in the spotlight. Here are a few of my favorites from the session.
The whole family

<3 Kim Owner/Photographer-Artist Kimberly Tank Art & Photography Hutchinson Family | Saint Marys Family PhotographerWhat do you do when your mom asks for professional family pictures for Christmas? You hire a professional photographer of course! It's so important to exist in photographs for our loved ones, and I'm so honored they chose me to create their family portraits. I normally do families with young children but I really enjoyed taking pictures of this awesome family so I had to share. Everyone had a great time! I love hearing at the end of the session that they actually had fun and that they can't remember ever having that much fun getting their pictures taken. Getting portraits of your family should never be a painful or boring task, it should be fun! They now have beautiful canvases on their walls, and an album to look through and bring them back to the fun they had together on this day. The perfect Christmas gift!

P.S. To my mom, you're next! I want updated family pictures with you in them too! Holiday Minis | Southeast Georgia & Northeast Florida Family PhotographerWe had a limited number of holiday minis this year and I designed the holiday cards for two of them and wanted to share! I ended up going to a variety of locations and loved trying new places. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!
This sweet family won their holiday mini session via a contest. We ended up doing them at Hannah Park in Jacksonville.
This adorable family wanted their session in front of their beautiful new home. Teenage boys may be more challenging to get smiles out of than toddlers,
This lovely family was so much fun to capture. These were done along the riverwalk in downtown Woodbine. We had some amazing light!
And of course, my favorite family whom I just love so much. The picture on the right was a recreation of one we did in the same spot 3 years ago, I will have to dig it up and post them side by side!
<3 Kim Owner/Artist-Photographer, Kimberly Tank Art & Photography Santa in St Marys | Children & Baby PhotographerWe had our first Pictures with Santa event this year and it was so much fun! I knew I wanted to do them outside, keep them simple, and focus on the kids and Santa. I chose the Tabby Ruins in St Marys to be the location. I originally had a friend's dad lined up to be my Santa, but due to an illness, I had to reschedule and find a new Santa. A former co-worker of mine (a teacher), volunteered and saved the day. And he was AWESOME! (Thanks Bob!!!) Santa arrived shortly after most of the families arrived, greeted the children, and then read them a story. While waiting for their turn with Santa, they were able to run and play and eat the yummy cookies I made. Everyone had a chance to warm up to Santa if needed, though there were still a couple who were just not Santa fans. Fun was had by all and we will definitely be doing it again next year!
Merry Christmas! <3 Kim Owner/Artist-Photographer, Kimberly Tank Art & Photography Colin Turns One! | St Marys Children's PhotographerHappy First Birthday Colin! I can't believe it's already been a year! Colin has been on the blog twice before (here and here) but this is the first time he's been the star of the post! His birthday theme was foxes, so of course we had to do some fox in the woods pictures for his birthday! He was not at all wanting to cooperate with the props that momma wanted to try getting him with, well except of course for the cake! We still captured some great shots, here are a few of my favorites!
Such a little gentleman! He had the cutest little suit.
Hmmm, maybe mom will serve me cake for breakfast every day now that I'm one...
