Award Winning Family Photographer | From Maternity & Babies to Seniors & Underwater Space Coast - Brevard County FL Personal Projects 2016 - February | Saint Marys, GA | Fernandina Beach, FL | Child PhotographyIt's hard to believe I'm 3/4 of the way through my first 100 day project. I have learned so much from doing it (that I will be sharing a post on at the end of the project) and had a lot of fun. My son has had fun being in the photos as well as occasionally helping decide what we should do for our daily action shot! Here are my Project 52 images and a few favorites from my 100 Days of Action for the month of February. Project 52 6/52 - Jump

Personal Project - Project 12: A Video a Month | Family Photographer Saint Marys GAPersonal project number three this year is a Project 12 - Video project. My goal is to create video once a month to practice a new skill. This first video is a video fusion that brings together both video and still images together. My son turned four in January and instead of a party, we bought him a power wheels. He was so excited to drive it (as you can see in the video)! We took him to a park down the road that would have some shade so I could attempt to get some decent video and would have plenty of space and little traffic so he could practice driving. So without further ado, here's my first attempt at video fusion...

Turn Your Family Memories Into a Work of Art | Family Photographer St Marys - FernandinaA custom portrait experience isn't complete without turning your family memories into a work of art to display in your home. It's why every collection I offer includes prints, canvas, or an album. New this year, I am offering fine art prints. These prints truly take your images to the next level. They are GORGEOUS! The photo I took just doesn't do them justice. You really have to see them in person. (But I'll tell you more about them below.)
These images are printed on a museum grade Hahnemühle fine art paper that is 100% cotton and has a beautiful texture similar to watercolor paper. Each print is finished with Hahnemühle’s Protective Spray to guard your prints from dirt, UV rays, fingerprints and moisture. (Though I recommend they be framed as soon as possible if you buy them unframed.) All prints up to 16x20 are custom matted to fit standard frame sizes. Custom framing is available with a 1.5 inch or 3 inch mat. Let's start customizing your family session and create an art piece to hang on your wall. St Marys Child Photography | Miss G Turns 3Happy Birthday Miss G! I've photographed this sweet child since she was a newborn. It's hard to believe she's already 3! I have loved watching her grow into the silly, smart, ray of sunshine she is today. Miss G loves Crooked River State Park so we decided to do her pictures there. She had fun running and twirling her dress in the woods. Here are a few of my favorites.
And don't you just love her curls?! Hope your birthday is a blast G! <3 Kim Owner/Photographer-Artist Kimberly Tank Art & Photography Need updated pictures of your kiddos? Miss M just turned 4 and Miss E has accomplished sitting on her own so I helped capture these milestones. We did a few of Miss E at her home on the same bed we did her newborn pictures. Then we headed to the zoo for some fun and playful shots of big sister and a couple with Miss E too. Here are a sprinkling of my favorites.
Miss M is taking ballet classes so I captured some of these fun ones of her showing off her moves!

This last one is probably my favorite. We were looking at the tiger exhibit and Miss M wanted to see what was behind this door. The light coming through and her expression were great!

Personal Projects 2016 - January | Saint Marys, GA Child PhotographyI gained so much from doing a personal project last year and knew I needed to continue into this year as well. I loved that I had more "big camera" photographs of my family so I'm going to continue with another Project 52, though this year will be un-themed so I will hopefully not fall behind so often like last year. I also joined a group doing a 100 day project, 100 Days of Ten, where we spend 10 minutes a day on something (search #100daysof10 on Instagram to see others in the group). I've been so inspired by the others in the group and realizing how much we can really get done every day if we prioritize our time and set goals (something I'm really working on). I chose to do 100 days of action shots. Some days I feel uninspired, but I just keep going and sometimes getting bored is when the creativity really sparks. I started the project wanting to find ways to freeze action and get better action shots, but I found I really love blurring action and doing panning to show the motion in the image and being more creative with it. As if that's not enough, I also decided to also do a Project 12 in which I will do a video a month. Here are my Project 52: Finding the Beauty & Joy in Every Day images and a few of my favorites from my 100 Days of Actions Shots for the month of January. 1/52 - Thinker (Stinker) He looks like he's deep in thought but really he was over me taking pictures that day and didn't want anything to do with the camera, thus the double title.
2/52 - Birthday Boy We gave my son a power wheels car for his birthday and took it to the park to get some fun pictures of him driving it. He had a blast! 3/52 - Lake Oconee Sunrise This image was taken while away for the NAPCP retreat at the Ritz Carlton Reynold's Plantation outside Atlanta, GA. A group of us ended up all out at the lake one morning to capture the beautiful sunrise over the lake. It was one of my favorite moments of the retreat.
4/52 - Little Rock Star It was a cold and rainy day and I wasn't sure if I was going to manage to get my action shot for the day and then my son decided we needed to rock out to some Aerosmith. So I snapped a bunch of photos and saved this one for my project 52 image of the week. Then I put down my camera and we had a blast!
5/52 - On a Roll I was playing with double exposure this week to show motion and I loved this image but chose another for my 100 days shot so this became my 52 week shot.

Project 52 | Special Memories | St Marys Child PhotographerI've officially completed my first Project 52! This project has helped me grow and learn new things as well as keep me pulling out my camera to document my own life. I will be doing another for 2016 but without themes so hopefully I will actually take an image every week and not get stuck on themes. Instead, I'm thinking of doing a general focus like "finding the beauty/joy in every day". This was a hard month for us, as we had to say goodbye to one of our doggies who had cancer. I'm so grateful for this project and photography to help me capture the special relationship she had with my son and help us through the grieving process.
Week 42 | Dreams Sometimes a moment happens and it's exactly what you need. This was that moment. Just a few days before we had to say goodbye to our sweet Zoe, my son fell asleep on the floor and shortly thereafter, Zoe went and laid down beside him. It was such a sweet moment that brought tears to my eyes knowing it would probably be the last time this happened.
Week 47 | Negative Space I originally had a couple other ideas for this theme and had settled on taking my camera outside and getting an overhead shot of my son laying in the grass. But first he had to play. My little monkey loves the new cargo climbing net we added to his swings for Christmas. He climbed all the way to the top and it worked perfectly to use the sky as negative space, so this is what I ended up with...
Week 49 | Silhouette We took our Zoe to the beach on her last day with us because she's always loved the beach and we wanted to make her day special. I also wanted to take a few more photos of her and my son together and knew this would be the perfect place to do so. They had so much fun together. It was the perfect last day.
"When dogs go to Heaven, they don't need wings because God knows that dogs love running best." ~Cynthia Rylant, Dog Heaven
Week 51 | Friendship I had this image in my head that I wanted to capture for this theme of my son and Zoe. I actually took a completely different image with him and two of his close friends in case I didn't get this shot. I only had one chance to get it because we took it right before leaving the beach that morning and my son was not wanting to cooperate long. This was the only shot I got like this and I'm so happy I got it.
Later that day, I found this poem that went perfectly with this image: So this is where we part, My Friend, I will go on; I'll find the strength, There are others, that much is true, Your place I'll hold, you will be missed,
Week 52 | Magic Moments And my final image for this project... this was the "magic" moment right before I was tackled by my almost 4 year old and the "magic" moment that I had completed this project! He was running with his new pal Scout the Deer, which he received for Christmas. If you haven't heard of Cuddle and Kind dolls yet, go check them out!
Thank you for following along with me this year! I hope you'll stick around for more weekly images next year! <3 Kim Owner/Photographer-Artist Kimberly Tank Art & Photography
