Five Photos to Take of Your Kids This Spring | St Marys-Fernandina Child Photography

Happy First Day of Spring!

In honor of spring's arrival, I thought I'd feature a handful of photo ideas you can capture of your kids this spring.

Spring usually brings rain and warmer weather, making it the perfect time to play out in the rain or in the puddles and mud that follows. This is a time to highlight the wet and dirty play of little ones. Don't forget to capture that dirt up close!

If your child plays in a sport or other activity, don't forget to capture that too. Spring is baseball season for us but my son also does gymnastics year round (we take a break for the busiest part of baseball season since he's not competing in gymnastics yet). I like to capture the in between moments in addition to the action.

Berry Picking

Spring is the season for u-pick berry farms. If you're heading to pick some berries, bring along something to capture a couple photographs of your time there. If you're local, check out Merck Farms for strawberry picking and Morning Belle Blueberry Farms for blueberries. Both are grown organically (the blueberry farm is certified).

Gardening/Backyard Fun

Springtime is when many of us are planting seeds in our gardens. Whether flower seeds or vegetable seeds, kids love to help plant and watch things grow! If you love to garden, this is the perfect time to try and get in the frame yourself too! I want my son to remember the fun we had together.

With better weather, we're spending more time outside, so capture that fun your having in your own backyard too.

We're lucky enough to be able to go to the beach to play most of the year. The weather starts to warm up in the spring but it's not too hot yet so it's the perfect time to schedule more trips to the beach! My son LOVES the beach so I capture him playing and having fun there often.

If you're not a beach person or don't live near the beach, capture your kids playing at the park once it's warm enough to head to the park to play.

Photographs help us hold on to memories that might fade without them. What do you want your children to remember about their childhood?
